I got a kick out of this old note that I found in my Holbrook/Goodhue records from Brattleboro, Vermont. Lucy Brooks Holbrook (# 7 on the list) was the sister of my grandmother, Grace Ware (Holbrook) Haskell. Now if I could only find this old chair...

Studies of Thomasso Juglaris - Emerline Mason Holbrook 1886

Here is an interesting family photo of my great grand aunt, Emerline Mason Holbrook. She was an artist and studied under Thommaso Juglaris in Boston back in the 1880's. This is a photo (actually a tin type) of her class in 1886. She is the 5th from the left in the first row. I have seen several pieces of Emerline's work and they are quite good.

Anna Elizabeth Nourse - Journal 1855

I have uncovered another exciting family history artifact - my second great grandmother's journal/book of dates. I discovered this in an old banker's box along with other documents in a family home in Vermont. The journal is written on miscellaneous slips of paper rather than in a bound book. Initially, I was not able to determine who wrote the journal, but after reading several of the entries and references to various family members, it appears that Anna Elizabeth Nourse is the author. Anna was b. 10 Feb. 1836, Worcester, Massachusetts, d. 12 Feb. 1927, New York, New York. She m. 6 Dec. 1916, Franklin Fessenden Holbrook in Brattleboro, Vermont. The first entries are for 1855 - see below:

the Lake is truely romantic and
beautifull [sic] Tole at bridge	25
Turnpikes at Sunday Gates	45
To Dinner at Waterloo Village
here are a large number of flour
mills Trip hammers & no place can
be better Situated for Manufacturing
14 Slept at Geneva. Supper etc	1.00
15 Canandaigua. 16 miles to Breakfast
and dinner, Left some clothes to be
wash'd Stage 1.00
16 arrived at Lima called on Mrs
Nancy Bristol. found 4 fine Children
17th Went to Avon and called on Mrs
Peirce. found 2 Children, and both

17. On Saturday morning took Stage

More Goodhue, Holbrook and Other Family Marriage Records

 Here are more family marriage records for the Goodhue and Holbrook families. Other surnames include: Edwards, Cune, Hall, Brooks, Bull, Chapin, Nourse, Draper, Roberts, Bartlett, Chalmers, Kleek or Kleeck, and Evans.

Unfortunately, I do not have definitive information on who prepared these family records, other than I found them in an envelope labeled "Genealogy Papers by Franklin Fessenden Holbrook, Mary Rogers Cabot, Frederick Cabot Holbrook and Aunt Lina [Emerline Mason Holbrook]". These documents were found in a storage room in an ancestral home located in Brattleboro, Vermont.
