Eliphalet Haskell was b. 3 Jun 1753 in Gloucester, Essex County, Massachusetts, d. 7 Nov 1833 in New Gloucester, Cumberland County, Maine. Eliphalet is my 4th great-grandfather.

  4. Hi Lori, Thanks for the comment. I am in the process of transcribing the vital records for the town of New Gloucester, Maine and the name Eliphalet is quite common. It has been fairly easy to research him and his family, although they did not leave as many records as I would like...

    Susanna Haskell & Anthony Bennett
    Jerusha Bennett & Nathaniel Stevens, Sr.
    They died in Litchfield, ME.
    Nathaniel Stevens, Jr. & Mary Francis
    Both born in Gloucester, Mass, married in New Gloucester, ME & died in Rutland, Ohio.
    Dolly (Dorothy) Stevens & Simeon Oaks d. CT
    Moved to Piscataquis County, ME--Dolly d. Ohio
    Gorham Oaks & Clarissa McAboy
    They ended up in North Dakota.
    Then my line went to WA State & still here 100 years later!

  6. Hi Tracie, Thank you for visiting my blog. I am in the process of transcribing the New Gloucester Vital Records. I found the following record for Nathaniel Stevens and Mary Francis: "52. The intention of marriage between Mr Nathaniel Stevens Jr and Miss Mary Francis both of this town was entered and published March 12th, 1779". I was unable to find a record of their marriage in the NG VR, just the intention. My ancestor, Eliphalet Haskell's intention of marriage is also listed in the NG VR. I just found his marriage record to Mary Woodman in South Hampton, NH on Familysearch.org
