  1. Hi Will,
I believe we are distant cousins through my Haskell line. I found quite a bit about William Haskell in some of the Essex Co.
Ma records and did a series of posts on
it over at my blog at

I look forward to reading more of your blog.

  2. Hi Bill, Thanks for the comment. I enjoyed your posts about the Haskell family.

  3. What an interesting stone and wonderful name! I have never heard that first name before. Has it been easy to research him?

  4. Hi Lori, Thanks for the comment. I am in the process of transcribing the vital records for the town of New Gloucester, Maine and the name Eliphalet is quite common. It has been fairly easy to research him and his family, although they did not leave as many records as I would like...

  5. Hi Will,

    Wanted to say, "hello".
    I descend from
    William Haskell & Marie/Mary Tybott
    Joseph Haskell & Mary Graves
Joseph Haskell II & Sarah Davis
    Susanna Haskell & Anthony Bennett
Jerusha Bennett & Nathaniel Stevens, Sr.
    They died in Litchfield, ME.
Nathaniel Stevens, Jr. & Mary Francis
Both born in Gloucester, Mass, married in New Gloucester, ME & died in Rutland, Ohio.
Dolly (Dorothy) Stevens & Simeon Oaks d. CT
Moved to Piscataquis County, ME--Dolly d. Ohio
    Gorham Oaks & Clarissa McAboy
They ended up in North Dakota.
Then my line went to WA State & still here 100 years later!
    Take care, Tracie Gross Ott

  6. Hi Tracie, Thank you for visiting my blog. I am in the process of transcribing the New Gloucester Vital Records. I found the following record for Nathaniel Stevens and Mary Francis: "52. The intention of marriage between Mr Nathaniel Stevens Jr and Miss Mary Francis both of this town was entered and published March 12th, 1779". I was unable to find a record of their marriage in the NG VR, just the intention. My ancestor, Eliphalet Haskell's intention of marriage is also listed in the NG VR. I just found his marriage record to Mary Woodman in South Hampton, NH on Familysearch.org
